Abstract: Birth order has been viewed as an important variable in personality studies. Previous empirical research findings have revealed mixed results when investigating the association between different birth orders and personality traits, such as the sense of personal and social responsibility. The present research study examined the relationship between birth orders and a sense of overall responsibility, where overall responsibility has two components: personal and social responsibility. It was hypothesized that there is a statistically significant difference in the sense of personal and social responsibility between different birth orders. The sampling population consisted of 274 participants enrolled in an undergraduate program in Lahore, and the sampling technique used was non-probability convenience sampling. The method for this cross-sectional quantitative study employed the Overall Responsibility Scale (ORS), which includes subscales: the Personal Responsibility Scale (PRS) and the Social Responsibility Survey (SRS). For data analysis, one-way ANOVA (analysis of variance) was conducted on both scales against birth order groups, including first, middle, and last, using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The results revealed that there was no statistically significant difference in PRS (Personal Responsibility Scale) scores for the three groups (first, middle, last): F (2, 257) = 0.380, p =.684. Similarly, there was no statistically significant difference in SRS (Social Responsibility Scale) scores for the three groups: F (2, 258) = 1.084, p =.340. Furthermore, ANCOVA used gender and age as covariates, revealing no significant difference among the three groups regarding overall responsibility.

Zhamaliyeva, S., Giosan, C., & Opariuc-Dan, C. (2022). Relationship between Instagram Users’ Information-Sharing Behavior and Nature Relatedness. Romanian Journal of Applied Psychology, 24 (1-2), 6-10. DOI: 10.24913/rjap.24.1.02 more details. Download PDF
Abstract: People have varied levels of nature relatedness and engagement in climate change information sharing on social media. Understanding the factors contributing to differences in pro-environmental behaviors on social media is important. The present study focuses on Instagram and explores the underlying motives behind sharing environmental information related to climate change. It hypothesized an association between the nature relatedness of Instagram users who engage in pro-environmental activities and their propensity to share environmental information on the platform. After controlling for other relevant variables, the results showed that sharing on Instagram is associated with nature relatedness. Implications of the results are discussed.
Keywords: Instagram; information-sharing behavior; nature relatedness.

Nwanzu, C.L. & Babalola, S.S. (2022). Emotional labor strategies and counterproductive work behavior: A social exchange theory approach. Romanian Journal of Applied Psychology, 24 (1-2), 11-19. DOI: 10.24913/rjap.24.1.03 more details. Download PDF
Abstract: In the work setting, several emotions can induce negative attitudes and, consequently, negative behavior. Based on the social exchange theory, the present study investigated the relationship between emotional labor strategies (surface and deep acting) and counterproductive work behavior and the mediating role of organizational cynicism in the relationship. The study design was cross-sectional, and established scales on the focal variables were administered to 299 knowledge-based service employees. The hypotheses were tested with regression analysis (complemented with the PROCESS tool). The results show that emotional labor and organizational cynicism are independently and positively related to counterproductive work behavior and that organizational cynicism mediates the relationship. The results suggest that emotional labor strategies and organizational cynicism could induce attitudes and behaviors that are damaging to the effective functioning of the organization and, as such, should be appropriately managed.

Ayad, H.B. & Senhaji, M. (2022). Moroccan version of the Social Connectedness and Social Assurance Scales. Romanian Journal of Applied Psychology, 24 (1-2), 20-24. DOI: 10.24913/rjap.24.1.04 more details. Download PDF
Abstract: This study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Moroccan version of the Social Connectedness and Social Assurance Scales (SCSAS) that assess belongingness. A sample of college students (N = 1150; age 20.00 (SD = 2.6); 61.1% females) were asked to fill out a set of questionnaires to evaluate the factorial structure, internal consistency, temporal stability, and construct validity of the two scales. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed a good fit of the two-factor model suggested for the SCSAS. In addition, multi-group confirmatory factor analysis supported the factorial structure of the scales. Moreover, the scales' reliability, internal consistency, and temporal stability were sufficient. Last, the construct validity of the scales was supported after they showed a negative association with mental distress (depression and anxiety). In conclusion, the SCSAS showed strong psychometric properties and can be used to evaluate belongingness among Moroccan college students, which is highly valuable for mental health-related research in Morocco and the Arabic world. hospitals.

Wüstner, K. (2022). Facing the unvaccinated: emotions, stereotypes, and the desire for punishment during the COVID-19 Pandemic in Germany. Romanian Journal of Applied Psychology, 24 (1-2), 25-32. DOI: 10.24913/rjap.24.1.04 more details. Download PDF
Abstract: Crises like the COVID-19 pandemic bring along challenges for individuals and society. In the case of Germany, vaccination against COVID-19 was identified as the primary measure to overcome the pandemic. This put those individuals in the spotlight who did not decide for it. This paper aims to analyze how vaccinated people perceived the group of unvaccinated individuals and whether they wished to punish those who did not contribute to ending the pandemic by vaccination. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted in the spring of 2022. Two hundred eighty-five answered the questionnaire. As a result, many respondents tried to make the best of the pandemic, although many reported negative emotions. Stereotypes of unvaccinated individuals revealed prejudices. Data also demonstrate an attempt to reduce contact with unvaccinated individuals as far as possible and an openness to discrimination or a desire for punishment. Although data result from a relatively small study, they can provide an illustrative example that can stimulate considerations of possible consequences and to further research.
Keywords: COVID-19, perception, punitive attitudes, vaccination status.
